How much control of
your privacy do you have on Facebook? According to a study conducted in
January 2012 by the Consumer Reports National Research Center (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/facebook-and-your-privacy.html?page=all; http://www.consumerreports.org/content/cro/en/electronics-computers/facebook-privacy-tips.html?EXTKEY=AYFCF07) there are some privacy concerns for Facebook users.
These privacy concerns are caused by either users themselves or
Facebook. Here are some of them: some people are sharing too much; some
don't use privacy controls; Facebook collects more data than you may
imagine; user data is shared more widely than wished; there are less
legal protections; and problems generated by Facebook use are on the
rise.
However, the user may protect their privacy by: thinking before
typing/posting; regularly checking their exposure; protecting basic
information; knowing what they can't protect; making "unpublic" their
wall; turning off Tag Suggest; blocking apps and sites that snoop;
keeping wall posts from friends; or simply deactivating when all these
solutions fail.
It's about your data. It's about your life. It's about taking care of yourself.
